The honors thesis explores the relationship between academic majors and the entrepreneurial mindset, focusing on whether Computer Science students have a perceived edge. The study involves a survey of 121 diverse Arizona State University students, complemented by in-depth interviews with 12 participants across various majors. Insights reveal the complex interplay of psychological factors influencing major selection, with Computer Science students advocating for more entrepreneurship-related courses. Challenges include time constraints for STEM majors in pursuing extracurricular activities and a call for universities to proactively integrate entrepreneurship education. While acknowledging the study's limitations, the thesis emphasizes the need for universities to adapt to changing student mindsets. Despite hurdles, the collective belief is that internal determination and effort drive students forward.

5G Millimeter Wave (mmWave) technology holds great promise for Connected Autonomous Vehicles (CAVs) due to its ability to achieve data rates in the Gbps range. However, mmWave suffers high beamforming overhead and requirement of line of sight (LOS) to maintain a strong connection. For Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) scenarios, where CAVs connect to roadside units (RSUs), these drawbacks become apparent. Because vehicles are dynamic, there is a large potential for link blockages, which in turn is detrimental to the connected applications running on the vehicle, such as cooperative perception and remote driver takeover. Existing RSU selection schemes base their decisions on signal strength and vehicle trajectory alone, which is not enough to prevent the blockage of links. Most recent CAVs motion planning algorithms routinely use other vehicle's near-future plans, either by explicit communication among vehicles, or by prediction. In this thesis, I make use of this knowledge (of the other vehicle's near future path plans) to further improve the RSU association mechanism for CAVs. I solve the RSU association problem by converting it to a shortest path problem with the objective to maximize the total communication bandwidth.
Evaluations of B-AWARE in simulation using Simulated Urban Mobility (SUMO) and Digital twin for self-dRiving Intelligent VEhicles (DRIVE) on 12 highway and city street scenarios with varying traffic density and RSU placements show that B-AWARE results in a 1.05x improvement of the potential datarate in the average case and 1.28x in the best case vs. the state of the art. But more impressively, B-AWARE reduces the time spent with no connection by 48% in the average case and 251% in the best case as compared to the state-of-the-art methods. This is partly a result of B-AWARE reducing almost 100% of blockage occurrences in simulation.

The purpose of this thesis is to create and evaluate an honors project for the CSE 325 Embedded Microprocessor Systems course at Arizona State University (ASU). It encourages students to expand upon the skills they learn in class and practice new skills that prove to be useful in industry. This is accomplished through implementing an Adafruit mini sound board using the UART communication protocol. The project’s success was measured with a survey taken by the participating students. The results indicated that the project was enriching and provided valuable experience. After further improvements, the goal is for this project to be offered each semester for students of Barrett, the Honors College in CSE 325 to complete as an honors contract.

By surveying students and interviewing public and community administrators, we have uncovered how these systems can improve to most effectively meet the needs of the communities they seek to serve. While often the primary complaint of menstruators who utilize these resources are that they are often understocked, this paper explores many other improvements which students would benefit from - such as more streamlined communication systems, improved quality and variety of products, and more efficient operational relationships.

Oasis is backed by substantial background research surrounding addiction intervention methods, especially in the field of self-appraisal messaging, and applies this messaging in a familiar mobile notification form that can effectively change user’s behavior. User feedback was collected and used to improve the app, and the results show a promising tool that could help those who need it in the future.

Nowadays, kids are exposed to technology at an incredibly early age. According to a study by YouGov in the United Kingdom, 88% of 12-year-olds are entrusted with their own devices and 85% of children at age 6 have access to a tablet at home (YouGov). In the US, according to MarketingProfs 75% of children 8 and under have access to some type of smart device. In an ever-growing technological world, it is important to make sure that kids are enjoying entertainment that enhances their growth and protects them from inappropriate content (Nanji). I wanted to create a browser game that explains the importance of Security in a colorful, fun environment with a friendly playable character. The game I created is a 2D platformer in which the player learns about the importance of passwords and keeping them secure.

Plus, almost all conventional electric boards come with proprietary software and hardware designs, meaning that modifying or improving upon their logic is extremely difficult if not impossible. Therefore, our group aims to prototype an improved, open-source electric skateboard design to determine the feasibility of our ideas.

During October 2022, I contributed to the annual Cybersecurity Awareness Month (CSAM) program at Arizona State University (ASU). 4 cybersecurity domains were explored during the month: phishing, password hygiene, physical security, and social media security. The scope of my work involved designing and developing activities related to phishing and social media security. The deliverables included 8 emails for the ‘Spot the Phish’ activity, an educational flier on phishing indicators, discussion questions for The Tinder Swindler documentary, and a password security question guessing game. I also collected feedback from students and faculty who participated in ‘Spot the Phish’ and the security question game. Participants answered questions about the difficulty of the activities and how their cybersecurity knowledge improved. The security question game didn’t have much participation, so there wasn’t much information to gather from the feedback. The ‘Spot the Phish’ activity had over 50 feedback submissions. That data suggested that the ‘Spot the Phish’ activity improved participants’ confidence in identifying phishing emails. After reviewing the feedback and my own anecdotal experience conducting the activities, I looked into research regarding tools for cybersecurity education. Based on that research, I designed new activities to better inform students and faculty about phishing and social media security for 2023 CSAM.
