This thesis focuses on the erotic depictions of Lucretia and Susanna in Renaissance art. Both noted for displaying exemplary chastity, Lucretia and Susanna gained popularity as Christian and secular role models for women in the late Middle Ages and Renaissance. My examination of the heroines addresses the seductive portrayal of these women in painting, which seemingly contradicts the essence of their celebrity. The images specifically analyzed in this thesis include: Lucas Cranach the Elder's Lucretia from 1525, Lucretia from 1533, and Venus from 1532 as well as Tintoretto's Susanna and the Elders and Annibale Carracci's Susanna and the Elders. The scope of my thesis includes both textual and visual analyses of the myths/figures and the disparity that arises between them. Employing Lucretia and Susanna as examples, my aim is to demonstrate a subtle subversion occurring within images of powerful women that ultimately strips them of their power.

Science fiction themed video games, specifically Role Playing Games (RPGs) like Deus Ex: Human Revolution (DX:HR), that focus on an emerging technology, contain features that help to better inform anticipatory governance. In a game like DX:HR, players vicariously experience human-enhancement technology and its societal effects through their in-game character. Acting as the character, the player explores the topic of human-enhancement technology in various ways, including dialogue with non-player characters (NPCs) and decisions that directly affect the game's world. Because Deus Ex: Human Revolution and games similar to it, allow players to explore and think about the technology itself, the stances on it, and its potential societal effects, they facilitate the anticipatory governance process. In this paper I postulate a theory of anticipatory gaming, which asserts that video games inform the anticipatory governance process for an emerging technology. To demonstrate this theory I examine the parts of the anticipatory governance process and demonstrate RPG's ability to inform it, through a case study of Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

Cardiovascular disease is one of the most deadly outcomes of end stage renal disease. Bioelectrical impedance is a intriguing, yet unproven method of measuring fluid buildup in the heart, and is marketed as a early diagnostic tool for onset of cardiovascular disease. In this study, selenium supplements were given to a cohort of dialysis patients in the Phoenix metro area and their fluid tolerance was measured with thoracic biolectrical impedance. BNP was used as a correlate to see if bioelectrical impedance was correlated with heart disease. The study found no correlation between BNP and bioelectrical impedance and thus was not an accurate diagnostic tool in a medical setting.

The purpose of this honors thesis was to create a quadcopter equation of motion software model in order to develop a control system to make the quadcopter autonomous. The purpose of this honors thesis was to create a quadcopter equation of motion software model in order to develop a control system to make the quadcopter autonomous. This control system was developed using Matlab and Simulink, and the aspects of the quadcopter's flight that were chosen to be controlled were the roll angle, pitch angle, and height of the quadcopter. Upon the completion of this control system model, the actual quadcopter was to be constructed, flown, and used to collect experimental data for comparison to the model. However, the hardware was never made available due to back order problems, and so unfortunately no experimental data from actual test flights was able to be gathered and compared to the Simulink control system model. None the less, the final Simulink model is still accurate because the actual geometry of the chosen quadcopter was used during simulation (including the moments of inertia and moment arm lengths). To begin, background research into quadcopter design is presented to give insight into the progress that has been made in the design of this type of aircraft. The equations of motion for the quadcopter considered in the control system are then derived through the use of twelve state variables. The Simulink model for the open loop system was then constructed in a fashion that converts the change in rotor thrust to the associated orientation angles of the quadcopter. Linear approximations were then used to distinguish the open loop transfer functions for each controlled variable (roll angle, pitch angle, and height), and compensators were designed for the control system in order to produce a natural frequency and damping that allowed for a 5% settling time of approximately two seconds.

Despite similar climate, ecosystem, and population size, the cities of Hermosillo, Mexico and Mesa, USA manage their water very differently. Mesa has a stable and resilient system organized around state and federal regulations. Hermosillo, after rapidly industrializing, has not been able to cope with climate change and long-term drought conditions.

Despite similar climate, ecosystem, and population size, the cities of Hermosillo, Mexico and Mesa, USA manage their water very differently. Mesa has a stable and resilient system organized around state and federal regulations. Hermosillo, after rapidly industrializing, has not been able to cope with climate change and long-term drought conditions. Water distribution statistics, stakeholders, policy structure, and government organization were combined in an organizational framework to compare the practices of the two cities. These inputs were weighed against the outcomes and the sustainability of each system. While Mesa is part of a massive metropolitan area, Hermosillo is still developing into a metropolitan center and does not have access to the same infrastructure and resources. In Hermosillo local needs are frequently discounted in favor of broad political goals.

The purpose of this research is to investigate the types of play and the use of play within daily routines that early intervention providers, parents of children with disabilities, and parents of typically developing children use with children under the age of three. It is important to research the current

The purpose of this research is to investigate the types of play and the use of play within daily routines that early intervention providers, parents of children with disabilities, and parents of typically developing children use with children under the age of three. It is important to research the current use of play by parents and providers to explore how play can be used most effectively to help children learn in other developmental domains. Two online surveys were created and distributed, one for early intervention providers and one for parents. The data from the surveys suggests early intervention providers and both parent groups engage in a wide variety of play activities. However, parents of children with disabilities reported using substantially more technology and videos than parents of typically developing children or early intervention providers. The data from the study also indicates that play is incorporated into daily routines by both providers and parents. Both parent groups reported more frequent use of play in most routines than providers. The findings of this study reveal that early intervention providers and parents of typically developing children are more closely aligned in the play activities they utilize with parents of children with disabilities being the most dissimilar. When looking at routines, both parent groups are more similar in their frequency of use of play in daily routines, while early intervention providers generally use routines less frequently than parents. Future studies could look at which play activities are most beneficial for children as well as why providers report using routine less than parents.
